Dr. Ping Wang – PhD, OMD, L.Ac

Founder and Lead Practitioner of Balance Healthcare

Dr. Ping Wang, PhD, OMD, L.Ac., is a California-licensed acupuncturist and the founder and lead practitioner of Balance Healthcare in Santa Monica. She has over 25 years of experience in integrative clinical practice and medical research bridging Eastern and Western medicine, with ongoing clinical work within university-affiliated medical systems, including the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine, Department of Medicine.

Dr. Wang’s clinical background was shaped through high-volume hospital-based training and long-term practice in academic medical environments in China, Japan, and the United States. She received her medical training in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and completed her clinical internship, residency, and attending-level hospital training at Liaoning Hospital of Integrative Eastern–Western Medicine. She later continued advanced clinical and academic work in Japan, earning her PhD in Medicine from Chiba University, Graduate School of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, followed by postdoctoral research training at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Her clinical approach emphasizes careful diagnostic differentiation, individualized assessment, and ongoing clinical evaluation rather than protocol-based or symptom-only treatment. While many patients initially seek care for a specific concern, Dr. Wang’s work often addresses broader underlying patterns through comprehensive, longitudinal care focused on functional improvement and long-term health.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Wang has an extensive background in biomedical and translational research. Her research contributions span oncology, reproductive health, cardiovascular and hypertension-related disorders, as well as gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases. Her work has been published in leading international peer-reviewed journals, including Science, Nature, The Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI), Circulation, and other high-impact biomedical journals. She has served as a research scientist at UCLA and has held academic teaching appointments at South Baylo University, School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Her academic work also includes editorial and peer-review roles for top-tier medical and scientific journals, and in parallel, she is actively involved in academic medicine and clinical education, working with medical students, fellows, and multidisciplinary trainees within university-affiliated academic and clinical settings.

Dr. Wang’s professional path has been deeply influenced by her family background. Her mother was a highly respected physician specializing in integrative Eastern–Western medicine, with more than six decades of clinical practice. Building upon this foundation, Dr. Wang has developed her own clinical style that integrates classical medical training, modern biomedical science, and decades of cross-cultural clinical experience.

Patients often value Dr. Wang’s calm, attentive manner, clear communication, and thoughtful approach to treatment planning. Her practice reflects a sustained commitment to evidence-informed integrative care, clinical rigor, and continuity of the patient–physician relationship.
